JACK'S 10th BIRTHDAY AT AUSSIE WORLD

On saturday the 12th of february it was Jack's 10th birthday and this year he did not want a party he wanted a day out with his best friend Dylan so we went to Aussie World we had never been there before but we all had a really good day. Jack wanted to go on the roller coaster which is not like his as he does not do heights or scarey rides but he went on and loved it i think he was quite proud of himself. We had a turn at mini golf he liked that untill people got in his way and then he chucked a darkie but soon got over it. That night we went out to dinner and Dylan slept over at his place and they played video games untill late.

JACK AND EMILY PUT UP THE PLAYGYM

Jack and Emily finally got to put up there playgym with a little help from Poppy of course. The got it for Christmas but we had to wait for the ground to dry out before we could cement the posts in. They loved helping to put it up and they love playing on it.

AMY BUTLER BIRDIE SLING

I made this bag for my lovely niece Sarah to use as a baby bag. I used the Amy Butler Birdie Sling pattern as i thought it looked perfect. I made a few small changes, where the pattern says use fleece for the bag and lining i thought it looked too thick so i used fleece only on the bag and on the lining i used iron on interfacing, and it sat much nicer. I made it a bit wider and the handles instead of joining the two handle pieces i added 10cm (4in)to make them a bit longer. Sarah loved it.

CLEANING UP AT GOODNA

Yesturday morning we set off early for Brisbane Terrace Goodna with spades and brooms in hand to see what we could do to help. Eddy and my Grandparents both lived on Brisbane Terrace during the 1974 floods so we knew what to expect with the mess and mud. What overwhelmed us were the amount of people who were pouring into the area to help it was amazing. You hear about the skum who go around looting but good people far outweigh the bad. It was so heart breaking to go into someones home and get all thire posessions and put them on the side of the road. Then we had to start shovelling out the mud which was thick through the houses and hose everything down, often ceilings and walls had collapsed. More than once i had to turn away so no one would see me crying but it just broke my heart seeing people so distressed after losing everything. There were people cooking burgers, making coffee, a young girl came around with homemade biscuits every one there were just doing there bit to help. I took peoples clothes home to wash, the mud and smell was terrible i thought i would never get the mud out but after a few washes you would never know they had been under water for a few days. When i took them back today they were so gratfull they are staying in emergency accomodation but at least they have fresh clothes to wear. I don't i will ever forget what i have seen in the last few days and i know many people will feel the same even if you you are not directly affected. The scenes on TV and things you hear are just heartbreaking.

FLOODING AT REDBANK

These are some photos i took of Redbank during the flood i took these on the 12th of January 2011 when the water was at its highest. We were cut off for three days with no power but compared to some people out there that have lost everything that is very minor. There is still a lot of water laying in low areas but most roads are passable.
